ABOUT BROADWAY FESTIVALS
Broadway
Festivals Inc. ("BFI") is a non-profit corporation
whose purpose is to organize, conduct and finance downtown
celebrations to focus attention on the historical significance
and overall importance of the central core of Lubbock, Texas.
The BFI mission is to celebrate the quality of life and
embrace the unique history, heritage and culture for all
citizens of Lubbock and the Llano Estacado region by promoting
the arts, tourism while contributing to the area’s
economic vitality. Presently, BFI sponsors two projects
in Lubbock: the 4th On Broadway Celebration, held each Independence
Day; the Lights on Broadway Holiday Celebration, traditionally
held in conjunction with the Texas Tech Carol of Lights.
In the past BFI helped found the Buddy Holly Music Festival,
the Lights in the Canyon Holiday Festival and the 4th Corps
Youth Program. Broadway Festivals Inc. was developed out
of the very successful 4th On Broadway Celebration originally
established by the Committee of Churches in 1990. The organization
is governed by a President and a large Board of Directors
(up to 18 members), while day-to-day operations are overseen
by an Executive Director.
BFI's events are open to the public and have an estimated
200,000 + attendance from Lubbock and the surrounding communities.
Through its events, Broadway Festivals Inc. provides the
citizens of Lubbock and the surrounding communities with
several unique opportunities each year to come together
and celebrate. Through its events BFI strives to offer entertainment
for everyone and to showcase the unique culture that makes
Lubbock an exceptional place to live.
In 1993, the Texas Downtown Association selected the 4th
On Broadway Celebration as the “Best Promotional Event.”
In 1996 the City of Lubbock chose Broadway Festivals, Inc.
and its projects as one of three organizations utilized
to compete for the All-American City Title. 4th On Broadway
is also considered the "Largest Free Festival in the
State of Texas."
The President, Tracy Bacon, is the Corporation’s Chief
Executive Officer. She supervises and controls all of the
corporation’s business affairs and presides at all meetings
of the Board. Tracy is
a graduate of Texas Tech University. She is a Vice

Tech Masked Rider Committee, the Lubbock Arts Festival
Planning Committee, a Meals on Wheels volunteer, and is
a member of the Lubbock Women's Club. Tracy is married
to Robert Bacon, who is a 6th grade teacher and they
have two children, Ben and Emily.
The
