You are invited to participate in the 34th Annual, 2024 4th on Broadway Parade to take place on Thursday, July 4th at 9:45 a.m. The 4th on Broadway Celebration attracts an estimated 80,000 attendants each year and has been named the largest FREE festival in Texas!
It is strongly encouraged you prepare a float. Parade floats are a great way to make a lasting impression, show your community spirit and are an excellent promotion strategy for your organization.
The 2024 Parade theme is 'United We Sing
'. Your entry will be judged for adherence to this theme.

NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS
Tier 1:

Tier 2:
Application Dates: May 4 - June 14
Entry Fee: $165
* Entry fee allows for a truck and trailer or three classic cars. Each additional vehicle will be permitted at $40 per vehicle.
COMMERCIAL ORGANIZATIONS and OTHER GROUPS
Tier 1:

Entry Fee: $230
Tier 2:
Application Dates: May 4 - June 14
Entry Fee: $325
*Other groups: Groups of individuals consisting of 10 people will pay the entry fee of $230 or $325 depending on application date. Each additional person will be $25 each.
* Entry fee allows for a truck and trailer or three classic cars. Each additional vehicle will be permitted at $80 per vehicle.
WALKING INDIVIDUALS
Entry Deadline: June 14
Entry Fee: $60
Individuals wanting to walk in the parade have an entry fee of $50. If you want to drive your own vehicle in the parade you will have to pay a regular entry fee as you will take up the space of a regular entry.
AWARDS
We encourage you to invest in a quality entry. Parade attendees have voiced their desire to see more floats. Remember, parade floats and entries are excellent promotional/advertising opportunities for your organization and a great opportunity to show appreciation for America and your community. You will only be considered for judging if you have a float.
Non-Commercial & Commercial Prizes:
1st Place - $500 and automatic free entry into the 2025 parade
2nd Place - $250
3rd Place - $125
*A MANDATORY parade Orientation meeting for accepted applicants will be on June 19, 2024 at 12:00pm and 6:00 pm, at 1720 Ave M (Caldwell Entertainment). A representative from each entry must attend one of these meetings and pick up signage, line-up position, and other necessary information. If you miss attending at least one of these meetings, you will be out of the parade without a refund.
GENERAL INFORMATION & REQUIREMENTS FOR THE
2024 4th ON BROADWAY PARADE

PARADE ENTRIES
****ALL PARADE ENTRIES MUST designate TWO PEOPLE (parade marshals) to walk in front of your entry to ensure traffic is clear. ****
1. Applications will be accepted through June 14, 2024 or until the parade is full. We encourage early applications – those received early receive a discounted rate and first consideration and an opportunity for an earlier slot in the lineup.
2. Entries that do not primarily adhere to Independence Day will be disqualified. Patriotic floats are highly encouraged and recommended and will make a lasting impression on the audience.
3. The parade will not be used as a platform for special interests. Entries of a controversial nature will not be allowed. No literature or handouts will be allowed. Political signs urging the election of any candidate for political office or any initiative will be allowed to appear in the parade, including signs appearing on any person, float, automobile or any moving or stationary structure which is part of the parade. No negative signs degrading opposing candidates, parties or issues will be allowed. Parade officials will inspect all entries and reserve the right to eliminate any entry that is in violation.
4. Parade entries and participants must be “family friendly” and appropriate to be seen by all ages. Entry applications will not be accepted if Broadway Festivals determines an entry to be controversial, unlawful, or inconsistent with the standards, theme and purposes of the Fourth of July. At any time after acceptance an entry may not be allowed to participate in the parade if it deviates from the original application or violates any parade rule and will not be refunded.
5. Unusual or novel entries: Any request for entry in this category will be decided for compatibility and suitability for the holiday theme of the parade by the Board of Directors.
6. Problems or questions that may occur will be resolved by the Broadway Festivals Board of Directors. The Broadway Festivals, Inc. Board of Directors will be the sole arbiters of whether your entry meets parade requirements. Broadway Festivals, Inc. reserves the right to refuse participation to any entry at its sole discretion, including, but not limited to, any entry containing political and social statements or issues.
DECORATIONS
7. All applicants are encouraged to build floats to showcase in the parade. A float is a trailer or vehicle mounted platform bearing a fully decorated display that significantly modifies the appearance of the trailer or vehicle.
8. All parade entries must be fully and appropriately decorated for the 4th of July or the entry will be subject to exclusion from the parade with no reimbursement/refund.
As used herein “fully decorated” means:
• Red, white and/or blue skirting or patriotic designed skirting all the way around the trailer
• Trailer wheels, hitches, boxes, etc. are covered completely to change the appearance of the vehicle
• Signage on float/entry with lineup number of entry and/or name of entry
"Appropriately decorated" means in conformity with your application, these guidelines, and passing the line-up inspection of the Broadway Festivals, Inc. Board of Directors.
9. All entries must conform to community standards of taste and decorum.
GENERAL GUIDELINES AND RULES
10. Participants who walk should be prepared to complete a 2.5-mile route in less than two hours. Walking youth groups must have one adult for every 6 youth participants.
11. Giving out Candy or other items– All candy or other materials you plan to pass out must be submitted and approved by Broadway Festivals prior to the event. If you choose to pass out candy or other items, MUST have two people (2 for the front of your entry) to make sure the children and the crowd is clear of your float. This is a safety issue. If you are caught passing out items with no assigned safety Marshalls, you will be banned from future events.
12. Animals participating in the parade must be harnessed or leashed and be up to date on their vaccinations. All animals must have protective foot wear to protect them from the hot pavement in July heat. Owners must provide insurance and proof of liability for animals with their application and must have proof available on the day of the event.
13. All vehicle drivers must have personal liability insurance and submit a copy of their Proof of Insurance with their application and have it available on the day of the parade.
14. No float or truck may exceed 12 feet in height or 10 feet in width. Floats must be capable of maneuvering around sharp turns and must clear all overhead obstacles.
15. Parade walkers must ride the provided buses back to the staging area at the conclusion of the parade. Buses will pick up participants at the corner of MLK Jr. Blvd and Broadway.
16. Broadway Festivals, Inc. reserves the right to limit the number and the type of entries in the parade. The entry fee is non-refundable!
17. Broadway Festivals, Inc. must approve any variance from the parade application before the parade. Failure to get approval for changes may subject an entry, or any of its participants, to exclusion from the parade.
18. Each entry is solely responsible for the safety of their participants.
19. An executed Indemnity Form must be provided for your entry’s participants before the parade. Failure to provide an executed Indemnity Form may subject your entry, or any of its participants, to exclusion from the parade.
20. The Parade TV Broadcast will be located just West of Broadway and Canyon Lakes Dr. Upon arrival at this intersection, each entry will be given 30-60 seconds (depending on each entry) to show off your float and/or perform for the media. The time limits will be adhered to in order to keep the parade moving at a speed that pleases the audience. All performances must conform to community standards of taste and decorum. Additional information on performance specifics will be discussed at the mandatory parade meeting.
21. Parade line-up will begin at Ave J and Broadway 6:45 A.M. on Thursday, July 4, 2024. All entries will be approved or disapproved by representatives of the Broadway Festivals, Inc. Board of Directors during the judging segment of lineup. All entries that have declared on their application a “judging category” AND attended the mandatory parade orientation meeting MUST BE LINED UP AND READY TO BE JUDGED by 8:45 A.M. Any entry not ready will be passed over and not judged.
22. Entries are judged on adherence to the theme, use of color and patriotic decorating, use of music, and group spirit and participation.
23. All entries, judged or not, need to be in line by 8:45 am. If you aren’t lined up by 8:45 am, you will be out of the parade without a refund.

Script for Parade Announcer

This will also be used as the script for the announcers to read as the parade is broadcast live on KLBK. ***Your script should emphasize how your entry adheres to our theme (“Let Freedom Sing”) and not just be an advertisement.*****
